Golf Insurance

Posted by: user99653 | Wed 7th Jan 2009 19:25 | Last Reply

Going to the Algarve next month, (sorry to rub it in for those that are not going) and i need to get some golf Insurance sorted before i go.

Anyone got any recomendations of who to go with, and obviously ones to avoid would also be appreciated.

Thanks Paul

You only cover when you go abroad then, Paul. Travel insurance will cover your golf clubs if lost or stolen. I am surprised you do not have cover for the UK.

Why do you want it now, all of a sudden.

Cheaper to get travel insurance then, covers all your luggage, medical if needed, as well as delays and cancellations.

When I  go abroad this year I will take one of my back up sets ones that wouldn't bother me if they were to go missing.

Correct, Wayne, it is the third party risk that can cost a lot of money.

I also have full cover for clubs & liability (& also it covers the bar bill if I ever get an ace!)

I have it with GolfPlan, costs me £69 per annum & it provides new for old regardless of age etc.

Paul,

check the small print as some of the companies don't offer new for old.

Paul,

Is that new for old regardless, some companies do a scale depending on age etc. So for instance if your clubs are 2 years old they might only cover 70% of the cost.

Paul,

If you check the policy in Section 3 it says.

If you purchase a comparable replacement for the lost or
damaged article, supplied from a supplier approved by us, we
will pay the replacement cost providing the lost article was not
more than 3 years old at the date of the loss & provided it was
purchased new at the time. If the article was more than 3 years
old or was not purchased new at the time, then we will deal with
the claim on an indemnity value basis or cost of repair whichever
the lesser.

This is OK for you as none of your equipment is more than 3 years old but for others like me it wasn't suitable, this is why I opted for GolfPlan, they give me new for old regardless of age.

John.

Paul,

It might be an idea to check if they cover items bought via ebay as they may deem these at not 'brand new'??

Bet the cover isn't as full as you think it is Dave.  Mine even covers me if my clubs get nicked from the boot of my car.
