I read the same report on the BBC Teletext service.

Apparently the Titanium drivers with a thin face produce a sonic boom when a golf ball is hit!

They are saying you should wear ear protectors when playing.

Ha, ha!  Sonic boom?  Interesting article Jagdeep but I think it's a matter of looking for an excuse for hearing loss instead of a cause.  I mean I know some drivers are loud, but that loud....?

Just heard it on radio 5 live.  How stupid.  What do we all do, wear ear protectors and then we run the risk of not hearing the likes of Tim shouting 'FOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUURRRR'

Having once spent a happy half hour erecting a safety barrier in front of a speaker stack while the band Megadeath were sound checking I'm fairly sure my hearing won't be affected by sonic booms from titanium drivers.

If you want to hear a loud driver off the tee find a slazenger k1 speed amazingly loud that is untill the face falls off the head and the loudest thing you hear is crying after just spending £170 on the bloody thing (Now have a wilsondd6+ with pro force v2 shaft not very loud but satisfying length)
