do you submit this round ?
hi all
just a quick question today i had a round of 84 . thats 7 shots better then any other
round i have played. reason being there was a lot of temp greens all closer to the tee
althrough this sometimes made it harder for me. as i overshot the temp green and had to chip back
also temp greens were uneven.
i also played very well. or at least i like to think i did . so do i submit or not?

If you look lower down the hot topics list you will see my thread 'Happy, bewildered and confused'. I had a similar problem to you and concluded not to track the round. If it is a one off due to conditions and temp greens then it shouldn't affect your handicap. If you have improved a great deal then you will do it again on proper greens and you can track that round and lower your handicap.. The only problem comes if you intend to use your golfshake handicap in a competition for your next round. Then possibly you should track it.

In my opinion temporary greens make it harder to score on than normal ones so your round was pretty exceptional.
If you are using Golfshake to keep your stats then of course you must enter this round, one cannot pick and choose, otherwise it makes a mockery of the system. Players of your calibre quite often produce scores that do not reflect their recent form, but then it is much easier to improve on a 25 handicap than it is on say one of seven.
If you are a club member then you will find that winter golf does not apply to your handicap for many reasons. Winter rules, temporary greens and temporary tees being the usual things that make handicapping impossible.

I submit every round of golf I play.
Even if I practice a few things whilst out on the course, if I play a full 18 holes I put the scorecard in.

Kevin, I would imagine that you could improve by six shots almost at once if you were to look back at your last round and take note of how many times you made a bad decision, either in club selection or course management.

Thought long and hard about this since your comment above John that every round should be tracked. In the end I came up with a compromise which you may not agree with but which I think is reasonable.
As I commented in the thread I started about my 84 round 9 of temporary greens were in front of the main greens on the fairway shortening the holes by about 30 yards. We also played off mats most of which were just in front of the normal tees. All in all I estimate this shortened the course by about 400 yards bringing it down to about 5100 yards.
I have been on the course searcher and found that par 69 courses of about 5100 usually have a sss of 64. So I adjusted the sss for the course for this round as you would if a CSS was set and have tracked the round.

It was my pleasure, Paul, always nice to see someone really get enjoyment from the game by playing well and you certainly did that day.

Jon, you can only play what is put in front of you as Chris P said earlier. The temporary greens would almost certainly cancel out any advantage you will have gained from a shorter course.
I am not a great believer in the SSS system, as most people know on this forum. The Pros do not have to play to it. Par is what they play against and so should we.

Well I don't disagree with you John but I am content that a 23 handicap probably reflects what I have achieved so far and represents a 3.1 cut for my last three rounds. I just find it hard to believe I might have improved more than that in a short space of time.
If I have then it should be reflected in my scores in the next two months before I turn up for the comp at the Belfry. However if I turn up there are score more than 39 points off my current handicap you will be more than entitled to call me a bandit and I promise I will not submit my card. Having looked at the course on the website there is more chance of English Channel freezing this winter than that happening.
