Scammer on the site

Posted by: user22898 | Sun 14th Dec 2008 20:19 | Last Reply

Hi,

Has anyone else received a Golfshake private message from a (supposedly) West African girl who thinks this is a dating site?

What's the betting there is some type of scam involved (not that I'd reply, I'm a happily married guy with a wonderful wife who understands my only vice is golf!).

Cheers

Thanks for the warnings.

I'll make sure she buys her own drinks when I take her out....   lol

Keith, can you give me the ok to check your account.  I want to see who it was from and what message they sent.  I can then block their account and add a spam filter on the message subject.

Anyone not wanting to receive PMs can firstly turn off the PM notification from the alert settings, you will then not receive the email notification but will still get the PM.  If you don't want to receive any PMs then you can set your profile to private, another option is friends only so only yor mates can PM you.

That said, hopefully unsoliciated PMs are not a major problem and I'll work hard to put spam filters in place and remove bogus accounts set-up for spam purposes which is something happening a lot of late in the forums.

Regards, Darren.

Cheers guys, I suppose it's the inevitable.  Spammers via email then on forums and now using messaging system within sites.

I'll update some filtering to start weeding out these spam messages.

Regards, Darren.

Obviously I'm not attractive enough for her   Either that or she knows that my missus would beat seven shades out of her for even looking at me (she has a slight jealous streak)
