Diabetes

Posted by: user50354 | Thu 11th Dec 2008 12:15 | Last Reply

Well Guy's/Gal's,

Had blood tests on Monday and got a phone call of my Doc to say he needed to see me as a matter of urgency. Went to see him yesterday and I am diabetic...

So it's 1 pill per day for a fortnight then 2 pills a day after that. I need to go see a diet nurse, diabetic nurse, eye doctor, specialist and a foot doctor...

Doc said no more sugar chocolate cakes alcohol but I can still go to the gym 3 nights a week and play golf....

Not quite the xmas box I was expecting and still in shock but there ya go and I had no idea...

Bad news Robbie, but hopefully it should be controllable if it's Late Onset - my Dad got it when he was 55 and once he'd got used to the new regime it hardly effected him as long as he was careful.

Sir Steve Redgrave was also diagnosed with it and he still managed to win a couple more Olympic Golds!

Sorry to hear that, Robbie, I have been borderline for some time now, but am working on the diet.

Sorry to hear about that Robbie.  Diabetes is easily treatable now though and as long as you're sensible with your diet you will hardly notice it.  It shouldn't affect your golf but if you have a bad round you have an excuse.  Make sure you tell Santa so he can swap your Terry's chocolate orange for a jaffa instead.

Wayne,

I'll take that as a compliment. Lee has trimmed down quite a lot over this last year, but I understand if you get my swing confused with Lee's!!

Chris - pot, kettle, black ring any bells??

John.

Cheers Mark

I will be sticking to the diet. I am pretty diciplined when it comes to doing things and that should stand me in good stead.

Off to club soon for a refreshing diet coke watching my wife enjoy her fosters
