North v South 2009 (North Captain)
Following on from the thread and post by Tim Hawkins would people like to think about nominations for the North Captain
Reply : Wed 19th Nov 2008 23:33
I suspect he or she would have to be nominated, who would volunteer to be captian for the losing team!!

Is there any way we can stop these shandy drinking southerners hijacking our threads.
Oh, by the way David, does that mean that you don't want the Southern captaincy as the only logical result will be a further win for the great North !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey,take that hook out of your mouth, are you going for male Captian for '09 or another ladyboy ??
Anyway we've already picked our Captian whilts drinkin a couple of shandys,Stella shandys..............................and it ain't me.

Come on now david i'm just playin poker with them.........................and if by any chance it was JP well, nah I think he's over qualified.

Shouldn't we agree where the divide is first? Also, is it by birth or by residence? Got to be by birth for me - I wouldn't be able to show my face back home if I played for the south

Another thing that maybe can be considered is that the previous years Captain becomes a "Vice" Captain the following year.
Fancy being my "Vice" Wayne ?
Reply : Thu 20th Nov 2008 09:55
A little "tongue in cheek" the offer was. In all seriousness the current format does work well and while it continues to do so why change.
I do take your point on the chance to let others take on the responsibility.
Look forward to the event and to play under whoever is voted in as skipper

I'm not bothered about who the Northern captain is as long as they can make a decent acceptance speech, after all that's about as tough as it gets. One thing I have to insist on is that the A team (me and Wayne) are still paired up to humiliate a pair of Southern jessies (preferably one of whom is Davina) - think Garcia and Westwood in the Ryder Cup (with slightly larger waistlines)

Up to your captain mate

Thread Hi-jack
Ill put my votes in early for Big Johny P and Davina for the 2009 South Team Captain and Vice captain.

I too would also like to captain the side and would be honoured to do so, so let it be open to votes and/or nominations from the other Northern players.
I feel it should be someone who has been voted for by your playing "peers", not just because nobody else wants the job.

That's how Wayne got it
only kidding
Reply : Wed 26th Nov 2008 14:31
If you ask me the quality of Captains has got worse year on year even though the bar was set incredibly low at the first event

Come on boys the Southerners are one step ahead in maybe picking their Captain. Lets not fall behind. Who have we got in mind this year guys ?
As all us Northerners know whoever the Captain is the trophy WILL stay in the North !!
Reply : Tue 2nd Dec 2008 22:19
Every chance of that, Martin, if you wish to have the bulk of the real estate to choose from.

If you look at this picture, you can see why the north south devide forms the angle Davids talking about. I agree with JP, that we need to move that line further North.
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 09:16
Looking at the globe though Danny, Darren's line is more North East to South West than East to West!
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 10:39
I'll second that motion.
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 12:50
I'm good with that. But David has to mind his own business. As Southern Captain elect I bet he's got an agenda......
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 13:25
Yes he has and he's taking medication ,Chris you shouldn't mock people with agenda.
If Mr Marshall is to be Captian we need to find him a Chauffeur, you know what happened the last time he drove to an event!!
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 13:35
Just ignore them Dave, besides who is likely to want the position of 1st north team capatain to lose the trophy?
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 14:01
Santo has agenda, but none of us are quite sure which one it is; perhaps it's somewhere in the middle.
Colin my boy, go back to your corner, drink your shandy and leave us to drink bitter and celebrate keeping OUR trophy. If you promise to behave, we might let you look at it.
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 14:32
Bloody hell, I go away for a couple of hours and find I'm being nominated for Captain! If no-one else comes forward of course I'd be honoured to do my duty, after all all I need to do is have a game of golf and bring the pot back.
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 14:48
One of those should be easy Tim, but I'm not sure you can manage the other. I've seen you play.......
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 14:59
Tim im glad you chose your allegiance to the North because an anagram of Tim Hawkins is "Sink Witham", and the North team are going down next time.
Oh , and i hope you are elected as Capitarn.......
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 15:05
JP don't worry where the divide line is we all know quality is better than quantity!!
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 15:29
I remeber David, can't belive I lived for 49 years and no-one noticed or pointed out that anagram!
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 15:32
I am not worried at all, David, just that for any competition to be fair then the rules must be equal. It is only a game of golf, after all is said and done. Incidently I owned up about the maru's to Wayne and he was very nice about it, although he did promise to give you some stick, sorry pardner.
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 15:56
Yes I know John stick arrived yesterday, I played Celtic yesterday with them and they have caused me a strange putting stroke , It goes inside to out ,back in then square damn difficult putting with a Hard On!!
Reply : Wed 3rd Dec 2008 18:19
So we can expect another addition to the family shortly.
Reply : Fri 5th Dec 2008 13:40
don't know what you're laughing at wayne!
Reply : Mon 8th Dec 2008 18:04
Tim gets my vote for the north. Come on lets vote somebody in so we can start reminding them S/S how easy it's going to be again.
Reply : Mon 8th Dec 2008 20:27
I humbly accept you nominations chaps. Will anounce my choice for vice-captain soon, they will be groomed for next years captaincy.
Reply : Fri 12th Dec 2008 08:13
i think the captain should be somebody who can talk the talk and wayne can certainly talk something as we found out at last years event, lol so we need a captain who not only talks s**t but is full of it as well
hahahahaha
if nominations have started for the captaincy then i would like to nominate MARTIN MILLICHIP
he does talk a load of crap hahahahaha
Reply : Fri 12th Dec 2008 08:35
I think it's agreed that Tim will be lumbered with the acceptance speech this year Darren.
Reply : Fri 12th Dec 2008 13:30

Reply : Fri 12th Dec 2008 19:40
Mark, you kill me no wonder it was a free translator.lol.
Reply : Fri 12th Dec 2008 22:29
Vous etes showoffs! I'm gonna ask Jeremy, the French intern at work, what your pair said. Tim was probably talking about the acoustics of a driver he tried and Dave saying something about sheep and leeks........
Reply : Fri 12th Dec 2008 23:38
Interesting that driver came out as wood though. Nothing to do with acoustics Chris, just my new reshafted MD, with a spanking new stiff Graffaloy Prolaunch Blue.
Reply : Sat 13th Dec 2008 11:36
I wasn't far off though, it was about a driver!
