North v South 2009 (North Captain)

Following on from the thread and post by Tim Hawkins would people like to think about nominations for the North Captain

I suspect he or she would have to be nominated, who would volunteer to be captian for the losing team!!

Is there any way we can stop these shandy drinking southerners hijacking our threads.

Oh, by the way David, does that mean that you don't want the Southern captaincy as the only logical result will be a further win for the great North !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway we've already picked our Captian whilts drinkin a couple of shandys,Stella shandys..............................and it ain't me.

Shouldn't we agree where the divide is first?  Also, is it by birth or by residence?  Got to be by birth for me - I wouldn't be able to show my face back home if I played for the south

Another thing that maybe can be considered is that the previous years Captain becomes a "Vice" Captain the following year.

A little "tongue in cheek" the offer was. In all seriousness the current format does work well and while it continues to do so why change.

I do take your point on the chance to let others take on the responsibility.

I'm not bothered about who the Northern captain is as long as they can make a decent acceptance speech, after all that's about as tough as it gets.  One thing I have to insist on is that the A team (me and Wayne) are still paired up to humiliate a pair of Southern jessies (preferably one of whom is Davina) - think Garcia and Westwood in the Ryder Cup (with slightly larger waistlines)

I too would also like to captain the side and would be honoured to do so, so let it be open to votes and/or nominations from the other Northern players.

I feel it should be someone who has been voted for by your playing "peers", not just because nobody else wants the job.

If you look at this picture, you can see why the north south devide forms the angle Davids talking about. I agree with JP, that we need to move that line further North.

Looking at the globe though Danny, Darren's line is more North East to South West than East to West!

Santo has agenda, but none of us are quite sure which one it is; perhaps it's somewhere in the middle.

I am not worried at all, David, just that for any competition to be fair then the rules must be equal. It is only a game of golf, after all is said and done. Incidently I owned up about the maru's to Wayne and he was very nice about it, although he did promise to give you some stick, sorry pardner.

Yes I know John stick arrived yesterday, I played Celtic yesterday with them and they have caused me a strange putting stroke , It goes inside to out ,back in then square damn difficult putting with a Hard On!!

So we can expect another addition to the family shortly.

i think the captain should be somebody who can talk the talk and wayne can certainly talk something as we found out at last years event, lol so we need a captain who not only talks s**t but is full of it as well
