Just wanted to wish my mate, John, all the very best for a successful operation and a complete recovery.
May you come back better and stronger than before!

Very nice of you, David, than you very much indeed. looking forward to my last game on Tuesday 18th with David L, Kevin H and Johnny P at Wychwood Golf Club.
Have a great time at the Shindig, I had put my name down to attend but the appointment was not to be refused. I will certainly be thinking of you all while I am lying in bed in the hospital.

Thanks Keith.
The golf may be out of the window for a while, Keith but I am sure we will lock horns again soon on the forum.

Good luck John,
As someone who has experienced several knee operations I wish you a speedy recovery & hope it gores better than the last one.
John.
Reply : Sat 15th Nov 2008 18:56
Thanks John, I know you have suffered over the years with your troublesome knees but I am more concerned with the anaesthetic than the op because of my heart problems. Hope your game is nice and steady.
Reply : Sat 15th Nov 2008 20:21
Best of luck John. Have you asked for one that you can hit a long drive off?
Reply : Sat 15th Nov 2008 20:33
Jon, thanks for the luck, but I think it will be down to the surgeons skills, but even he will not be able to get me to hit a long drive.
Reply : Sat 15th Nov 2008 23:07
Best wishes from me to John..........suppose me and Kev should let you win on Tuesday.
Reply : Sun 16th Nov 2008 00:37
Don't you dare throw the game.
Reply : Sun 16th Nov 2008 07:19
I suspect I wouldn't have to John, not that i would of course ,I think you and Jonny are up for this one.Looking forward to our rematch.
Must focus on todays match now though I have a first round winter pairs knockout this morning .Wish us luck.
Reply : Sun 16th Nov 2008 08:18
Win in style, David. No luck needed.
Reply : Sun 16th Nov 2008 09:02
All the best John, you will come back meaner, leaner fitter and better than before. See you at some of next years events.
Reply : Sun 16th Nov 2008 09:24
Thank you Martin, very nice of you to think that I may become meaner, fitter and better after my op. Myself I very much doubt it, as quite honestly I cannot lay the blame on my knee for the gradual decline in my shape, my fitness or my standard of play.
I hope you manage to pull off the equivalent of the Harry Vardon Trophy by winning at the Shindig, this week-end.
I congratulate you on the rapid progress you have made this year in reducing your handicap to well into single figures. It gets even tougher now, but then you know this already.
I too hope that perhaps we will get drawn together in one of next years Golfshake events as I am sure I will enjoy watching you play.

Best of luck John, See you on the forum soon and hoping you are fit and well enough to help us win the home leg of the North V South in 2009.
All the best
Colin

Thanks Colin, I was not aware that we were going to be at home for next years match.
We have a lot of good players to choose from now, so I might not get in the team, unless I butter up Simon.
Reply : Sun 16th Nov 2008 20:54
Oh I think Simon will be handing over the reigns to a suitable successor as has happened previously. I'm sure whoever has the honour of leading the South to victory in 2009 will be jump at the chance to include you in their team.
Dont let that stop you buttering up Simon though

Ooh, setting a precedent for a non-playing captain, eh John?
Good luck with the op mate, having suffered with mine since my teenage years I can only imagine how bad yours is so hope it all goes well and that you're sprinting round the course with us pretty soon.
Reply : Sun 16th Nov 2008 23:42
C'mon Tim, you know damn well that sprinting is never going to be on the cards, but I am hopeful that I will be able to participate as a 3D team member once again, although I insist the players pay for the team next year.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 10:12
Thanks, Jonny, it would be nice to beat them, but I will have to support you better than I did the last time. I really am looking forward to it.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 11:19
All the best John. Had both of my knees done aged 19 so I know the pain you must be feeling. It so much better when they're sorted though. May you come back stronger and your drives longer.
Oh, and may the anaesthetic temporarily addle your brain whilst giving tips to the members of the South team at the N v S!
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 11:34
Thanks Chris, I am only thankful that I did not have this problem at the age you did, we have to expect it at my age.
I don't handle anaesthetic very well. so there is every likelihood that my brain becomes addled, but not addled enough to support my fellow team members. We are gunning for you.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 11:37
Kevin, I thank you for your support re the op, appreciated. As regards the match tomorrow, jonny P has had a lesson with Leadbetter, so you really are in trouble. I also think the greens will be too good for your putting style, but will have to concede that at 6500 off the yellows it will be a daunting prospect for me.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 11:38
I'd say 'Bring it!' John but I fear that would be somewhat foolish.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 11:44
Chris, I realise that we only gave you a close game because you lent us a few of your good players, but I do feel that if we can muster our good players in the South, then we will have a good chance of getting out first victory in this annual get together.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 12:13
Jonny they willbe right up Kevs street thats what he's used to playing on!! forcast looks good.......
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 12:22
All the best John from me and the golfshake.com team.
Will be looking for suggestions soon for the NvS 2009 event which as stated above is South based this year.
Regards, Darren.

Donington,Donington,Donington or possibly Donington.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 13:03
Thank you very much, Darren, much appreciated. Pass on my thanks to the rest of the Team.
I am sure that we will find something suitable for the occasion, we have some excellent courses under the Crown golf umbrella and I am sure that being a member I could negotiate a nice deal in conjunction with Golfshake.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 13:07
David, although the day at Donnington was very nice, the course was way too long for most of us. We are not all King Kong.
Crown Golf have acquired a very nice course in Surrey - Pine Ridge and I think it would make a great venue, as every hole is typical surrey, tall pine trees and each hole on its own.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 13:11
Have to say i thoroughly enjoyed Manning's Heath the other week, might make a suitable venue

An excellent course, Colin, I agree with you, but maybe too far South for the North boys to get to. Don't forget we have David M down in Bournemouth and our two leading lights down in South Wales. Something a bit more central to those in the north of the south, perhaps jonny P's course at Wychwood G.C as it is easy to get to with good major road links.

I believe that Golfshake have already had an event there, so we should get some feedback as to whether it was any good or not.

Not to thread jack. Individual post for North vs South 2009
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 17:25
Thank you Stuart, I never had a problem with you taking the money that day, as your golf was a delight to watch. I expect to see you in Feb in the Algarve.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 17:45
Thank you George for your kind words - appreciated.
No one takes any notice of me, George, I have the freedom to ramble on and no offence is ever meant.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 17:46
It must be you he meant, David, you are the only one with money.
Reply : Mon 17th Nov 2008 22:39
Hell of a thread
Down to you and I don't even try to know you but I do feel I know you (from afar !)
You are a comment maker - and I view your comments with a degree of 'reply
with aspirations of "correcting" ' but I in almost every case find I cannot !
Keep on Blogging John - You are somebody I would love to argue against
but in the end as much as I might like to , I struggle to in any way call you a "Tosser" (i.e. per previous communications !)
Reply : Tue 18th Nov 2008 00:21
Colin, argue away, that is what a forum is for. We cannot expect to agree with everything anyone says and I have been called far worse than a "Tosser".
Now to bed, early start for a 0953 start time with the boys.
Reply : Tue 18th Nov 2008 09:36
I hope the operation goes well for you John, and a speedy recovery to follow.
Don't be away too long.

David, Russell and Steven, your thoughts are much appreciated, but even if the Op goes well I will never hit it three hundred yards, hoping to get 200 though.

Good luck john.
When you get back on your feet you will have to come for a round with the golfshake team and teach us how to swing properly!!
Reply : Tue 18th Nov 2008 18:30
Thanks Luke, teaching you to swing correctly is the easy part.
Today I witnessed a fat lump of lard, using 20 year old irons, produce shots of the highest quality, one in particular a beatifully flighted three iron to carry a water hazard and stop on landing not more than 20' from the flag. Majestic play by our own David L.
That other bandit from the same neck of the woods, Kevin H is such a pure striker that he reallly should be in single figures. Lovely to watch.

Thank you John, your to kind and I do resemble that remark. Another enjoyable golfing experience with your goodself, JP and Kev, Wynchwood you would agree was presented well for the time of year and we were blessed with good weather. I hope you havn't got a single malt there as you should be NIL by mouth by know.
Anyway all the best or tomorrow bud, and get writing you know what.
P.S. everyone, John had a 5 on a par 5 today(Top Flite Z Balata) ,on for 4 sunk a 30 footer, and for the record me & Kev had a 6
