What's up with Ian
I was a bit startled today to read that Ian Poulter has pulled out of the latest tournament because he didn't have his driver. The report I read on BBCi said he didn't want to play because there were so many ranking points at stake he would lose out if he played badly.
Can any one explain why his club sponsor couldn't get a decent driver out to him in 24 hours. Also does anyone understand why he is better off in ranking points by not playing.

One can only assume that it is best not to play if he has a problem with his driver as a poor showing would affect his ranking points which no doubt also include the number of events played to get them in the first place. Perhaps they are allowed to discount a couple of rounds, I don't know.
Sending an identical club is not the answer as it will have different characteristics.

I can't believe a pro would only have one of each club available to him. What happens if they accidently wrap one round a tree or if their caddy drops their 9 iron in the lake?

He might well have a hidden agenda though Chris and just using that as an excuse.

Ian P had his driver stolen out of his bag whilst it was in the caddies dressing rooms during the recent HSBC comp. As there wasn't much time until the next round it would have been impossible to replace his driver.
