Calling all West midlands golfers
Calling all west midlands golfers, you can now register your interest in playing the GOLFSHAKE 2009 REGIONAL QUALIFIER west mids at
http://www.golfshake.com/society/groupView.php?groupID=2170
Were looking for a minumin of forty golfers from the west midlands to register there interest to play in this event which will be summer 2009.
The group is run by myself and Chris Perry, and we will post updates on venue's,format, dates, rules.etc
Once we get the minimun requirement we can start booking tee times at prospective venue's to confirm the event.
The basic idea is a stableford comp qualifiers will be played through out the country(eight regions). The qualifiers will have different handicap sections( 0-9,10-18,19-28)the top three scoring players from each group will qualify for the final at a top venue t.b.c

Forget the Forest of Arden mate. The Arden is a good course but bloody expensive and the Aylesford runs out of steam after 13 holes. I was a bit disappointed with it to be honest and don't thin it's worth the £30+ you'll have to pay at a weekend. I'm fine with the others.

I haven't played it but they had the weekend cup there earlier this year so lots of people on here have. I was playing in HHC 1 that weekend

Booked. Off at 12:30. Bring your A game, as opposed to your usual of just bringing 'a' game.

I'm not a member of this group (I'm from the posh side of the Midlands) but would thoroughly recommend Patshull Park and The West Mids for a venue. Patshull is tight, well maintaned and has the air of an older style golf club. Some tricky holes and a bugger to play if you're not a long hitter especially if the wind is up. Staff are very friendly and the food is very good and beer reasonably priced. West Mids would be good for a comp though, with the 18th a potential score wrecker - best way to experience it is with a pint from the comfort of the bar. Still a fairly immature course so some room for error, but tricky enough to catch out the overconfident.
Both reasonably priced as well.

Bllocks to you lot then, try the Forest of Arden

"Keeping your mind clear of any thoughts would be a miracle"
He's a Wolves fan Santo, that comes natural to him.
Thank you Tim for your helpful input given that you have played both. It's good to see that some people are genuine and have manners. I think West Mids is good for a qualifier as the 18th will see how people can play under pressure.
And stuff you Miller, go and play up your own end of the street!!!!

You may be riding high, but it's much easier to beat Blackpool and Preston than Man Utd and Aresnal. While we were playing Liverpool, you were huffing and puffing past 10 man Burnley. Just remember, Watford were 8 points clear this time last year and look where they are now.
Oh, and the reason ex-Wolves players have scored against us in the last two games is because you're not a big enough club to keep hold of good players so they go to teams in the PREMIERSHIP, the division they have to be in just to play against us.

We played patshull for a golfshake event back in the summer - the wind was blowing a gale but it was a very enjoyable course.

Sandwell Park is just down the road from my course. It is a good course but some holes can be very tight.
Dudley - Not played it but I think it may only be a 9 hole course with different tee positions for front & back??
Not played any of the others.
John.
