Hi Golfers,

I read the letter from someone seeking advice about gps,I think all the new modern gadgets are taking a lot of the fun out of the game, last month I played with a golfer who had a gps and to be honest he would have been better spending his money on golf lessons,He also had the best of golf equipment but he had only taken a total of two golf lessons,Where are the days when golf clubs were bought because they felt good in the hand.

It is all marketing hype, Hugh, and there are plenty of gullibles to fuel the fire. The only way one can buy a golf game is to spend the money on instruction, tailored to the pupil, as everyone is different.

At one time, all clubs were blades and we just had to learn to strike a ball correctly, yes, even the 24 handicappers that we had in those days. All the latest designs purporting to be game improvement clubs, have only seen handicaps go out to 28.

Standards are way lower then they used to be, even with all the advances (So claimed) in technology.
