Caddie Aid GPS
Has anyone out there got the new Caddie Aid GPS system for a PDA? It displays the hole using google earth maps, so you see every tree etc on each hole. It then gives you ranges to anything you want, including lay up distances etc. I have one and have about 6 courses, which anyone can have, but also looking for feedback. I will be testing it in the morning, so will do a write up on it.

Allan, you are correct, just checked and it is now on Google Earth, this can only have been recently updated as I check quite regularly.

Allan, are you sure they are google earth images ? this would break the T&Cs of the google maps terms. Are caddyaid not the guys with photo mapping via helicopters.
Just curious

I have just checked with the Caddyaid website and I quote:
However before you buy, one thing we would ask you to consider in your purchase is how our competitors actually get the GPS coordinates for the key features such as the green, bunkers ponds etc. CaddyAid gets ALL of its data from aerial photographs, using a wing mounted £1 million camera, guaranteed to 1 metre accuracy. When we fly the Open Championship, that one image alone will cost around £3,000, so hopefully that shows how accurate our core data is. Other companies use less sophisticated methods like Google Earth to get its data, which is widely known to be highly inaccurate.

Yes Allan, I have had the software and hand held Pda which i subscribed to about 8 months ago. Unfortunatly they were in their infancy and i had numours problems with them, as in communication and downloading. Looking at thier new site they seem to be getting thier act together so i may set it up again when i get time. I had lost patiance and bought an SG5 which i loved ,but in all honesty i hardly use it know , Iv'e taken a leaf out of JPs book and started to feel the yardage even though its not that easy to do, but extremely satisfying when pulled off.
