52 Points on the Virtual Leaderboard and similar
Hi Everyone,
Some thoughts on the 'Virtual Leaderboard'. Is it fair do we (golfshakers) think that single round stats are shown? Freak 45+ point rounds seem to be the norm for the top 20 positions. All well and good for them to have scored so well, but for the folk that play a bit more 'normally' there's no chance to appear.... 'shame' I hear the cynics and the 45+ pointers shout. I believe and would appreciate the feedback this topic will no doubt garner, that one shouldn't appear on the Leaderboard until 2 rounds have been completed, therefore showing an average. No great shakes , but thats my two penn'orth. Thanks

The virtual leaderboard is a joke, Phil, it dioes not accurately reflect the true position. just look at the greens in regulation leader, a Mr Boyle with a 97% figure, yet he is a high handicapper and scores over a hundred most times he plays.

I think only verified rounds should count. That would resolve the majority of issues. Also, when people first register they are a 28 by default but could be playing off 8. After three rounds are etered and a handicap given, their stableford for the first three rounds should be recalculated based on the handicap set.

Mr A. Boyle, GIR 97%, with average putts per round of 63.5.
Mmm....not bad.

Use the normalising approach perhaps. Five rounds minimum, top and bottom 10% removed. Rewards consistency and improvement.

I have never understood why anybody would want to cheat the system to get their name written in cyber space for all to see....
But would love these guys to come to a GS event for the showing up of their lives...
Do you qualify for the GS Invitational Trophy - entrants only from golfers with 100% fairways and 95% greens..
Also special bonus prize for the best excuse for not playing to form on the day
