As HAPPY as I am right now, surely this was not Faldo's fault as captain. These 24 guys played fantastic golf and Poulter the controversial captain's pick got 4 out of 5 points too.
In the end, every guy has to hit the shots, not the captains.

I thought Faldo was a bad idea as captain before the event but having followed it all the way through I think the Americans won it rather than Europe losing it. It was probably more a case of Faldo picked a bad Ryder Cup to be captain. The Americans finally played as a team and Europe are in transition from the old guard to the new.

I don't think it was Faldo's fault we just came up against a very good american side. I thought Boo, Kim & JB all played outstanding golf & they all holed out very crucial putts at the right time.
One critisism I would make is the US crowd, I thought the way they acted towards the Europeans was appalling & the fact that Azinger had to tell Boo's caddy that he had to stop Boo enciting the crowd on the 2nd day summed it up.

John,
I posted this in another thread, but American fans are no different than your fans over here. You just don't notice it when it's your home field advantage and your home team on your home turf.
It's also what makes the Ryder Cup so fun because the fans are incredibly involved vs a normal tournament.

America had to win this year, for the sake of the tournament.

I see you are still bitching then Pat, after all the fuss you made about Darren Clarke I think you should be eating humble pie, not trying to place the blame with Faldo. His strongest players let him down, not a win between them. Poulter more than justified his selection and that is what is getting to you.

Michael,
I agree with JP. I don't ever recall any of the Amercian's at the K club being heckled or any of the European players having to be told by the team captain to stop enticing the already hyped up crowd.
Then there is the accusation of 'hoax' phone calls to some of the europeans rooms early in the morning before the singles matches.

I'll retire from these threads with America bashing. In fact, I won't even read any more of these threads on the Ryder Cup.

Michael,
Your choice but if you read this thread most of the people, including me, agree that Amercia deserved to win.
Don't be so sensitive.
