putting grip
What grip do you use with your putter, I recently changed my grip to that which I use with my Irons (or close to it) and I have started to putt a lot better since, I feel there is an added bonus in that it keeps a consistent grip while playing so helps to ingrain it, does that make sense ?

Putting is all down to personal choice when it comes to the grip.

OK, I use the reverse overlap and have done since it was first introduced many moons ago. The reason is that it takes away some of the strength of the right hand and keeps the left wrist firmer.
Having watched people putt for over fifty years I have come to the conclusion that the bad putters fail because of their poor green reading ability.

I use a standard grip and had my putter shortened to 34 inches last month.
And I read greens perfectly, lol. It's just that I either leave the putts 10 feet short or 10 feet to long. I can make all putts under 3 feet unless they are for par after a perfect pitch or chip.

I find the death grip, holding on so tight the shaft is bending, works for me
Seriously though I really don't think it makes much difference unless one has the "yips" or maybe just changing the grip freshens things up a little for you.
I use the same grip as my irons because I don't see any reason to change it, I agree totally with Mr Pettitt about reading greens, some of the people I go out with still just hit the ball strait at the hole and can't believe it goes off left or right and does'nt go in.

Unique indeed, David, but very practical. With those two fingers either side of the grip pointing down it locks the hands perfectly, the back of the left hand facing the target and the right hand exactly opposite. This gives excellent and consistent directional qualities and only the strength of the putt has to be given thought.
