all golfed out
I started of the year confident of breaking 100. All of my scores were within 4 or 5 shots of the magic number, including a 101 with two 8's in it, at Pine Ridge in Surrey
I've played all through the winter, every weekend, including 72 holes at Fingle's Glen at the end of March, scoring 101, 102 and 101, with a 74 in a Texas scramble, but I can't really count that.
We play a different course every week, I'm a member of the Virtual Golf Society, but try as I might, I cant get through the 100 barrier.
In fact the last few weeks, my scores have started going up, to cap it all off, I played at Tradtions in Pyrford on Saturday and carded a 126.
So what do I do, I scored 3 pars on Saturday, and blobbed about 6 holes(that doesn't help i know)and in the last 2 weeks even started scoring 5 point birdies !!
Take a couple of weeks off, get a couple of lessons, or just play on through it?
I stopped playing for 8 years a few years back, because my game just went, I don't think I'll walk away from it this time, but need some support, any suggestions ?
The strange thing is, my drives are ok, not spectaculaly long, but usually straight, putting ok ish, short game seems to have improved, its the "second shot" where the problem seems to be. Also par 3's seem to be causing me problems, I played at Downshire on Good Friday and blobbed all bar one, which I parred.
Funny old game.....

I had that too, I dont add up til i get back in the clubhouse now, the thing is if there's no 6's and 7's on the card you know you're doing ok.
I still think maybe i'm "trying too hard" , you know, today's the day !!

Definately trying too hard causes most of the problems.
I used to play quite regularly a few years back just for fun and generally went round in the high 90's.
In the last few years, although I don't play as often I now take it far to serious and just like you guys count on my way round, so now very rarely break 100. Plus I always want to beat my mates.
I suppose I also spend to much time working on this site, rather than playing golf ;-)
Regards,
Darren.
