Frustrated Society Player
Our society plays once a month, and I struggle to play every month due to family commitments. My handicap is average at 17.6 so I play off 18. Today I played a new course and scored 30pts. The other guys averaged 31 to 20. Whats wrong you say?Well a few of us are frustrated as a couple of years ago one of our members bought his son along (he was then 13) His handicap was started at 36. Now he is 15 and bigger than me, hits the ball well, playing off the red tees. His handicap is now 31 and only going down really slowly hence today he scores 33 points. What can we do apart from hiding his clubs. We've got another three years of him being a junior and he's only getting better.
What would you do?

I cannot see why you are complaining, after all, this young man is still not playing to his 31 handicap by scoring 33 points. The fact that he is playing nearer to his handicap than you is irrelevant.
What would I do? I would attempt to improve my own game, after all you have no control over the performance of others.

Thats magic - a youngster getting the better of other society members.
What would our society do - well, encourage him during the round and afterwards maybe a touch of club house banditry banter...
