North Event

Posted by: user103520 | Sat 16th Aug 2008 09:32 | Last Reply

OK who is up for an event in the North of England?  I would be willing to help organise something for between Sat 25th Oct and Sun 1st Nov (half term for me so i can definitely be available).

Seeing as a Manchester event is too narrow I thought a Northern one would be a great idea. We could base it somewhere reasonably central to alow the largest possible entry. Emphasis would of course be on FUN!

It could be a High Handicappers comp or open to all.

Put your thoughts down below - on 1) Location, 2) Whether you can help organise, and 3) Who event should be open to. If we get enough interest I will open it as a proper event on here. Idealy gofshake registered players but if you have mates who can play that would be fine so long as you can cajole them into signing up on the site.

I'd be willing to attend if it's in the Manchester area Simon.  Having been through the pain of organising one of these things, drop me a PM and I'll pass on the pitfalls I encountered.

Course looks good to me, but I can't do Sat 25th Oct or Sat 1st Nov.  You thinking of Sun/Mon with a stopover or just a single day?

I'm gonna struggle with the weekend of 18th/19th and 25th/26th Oct as I will be travelling to/returning from the US.  Sun 2nd or Sun 8th Nov works best for me.  I won't be selfish though so go with the majority Simon.

Who pays green fees for winter greens, I most certainly don't. The greens are the most important part of the course and if they are no good then the golf will be no good.

It really does amaze me that golf clubs still expect people to pay a full green fee for an inferior conditioned course. In the old days of course no one ever had to play on winter greens and I am fortunate where I am now that we are always on the regular greens and just as important, the tees.

I had the little lady to drag me up to an acceptable standard at Belton Woods though.  I think I may have to disguise myself to get into here.  Maybe if I dress as a pimp they'll think I'm Santo.......

Wayne,

It might be easier to have a poll on the members who don't think your pimped for golf!!

Wayne, you look like Huggy Bear at most of the events; all you need is a fur wrap.  You don't drive a Cadillac town car as well do you?
