Hi Paul, how ya doing? You'll find a good bunch of guys here, well all apart from one! How much you get involved is up to you, you can find local people for a casual game especially around the West and East Mids area. Depending on how confident you are it's good to see if you can get into some competitions, it's not as daunting as it sounds and you'll meet golfers of all abilities. There should be a high handicap competition coming soon, Leamington I think, just keep your eye out for HHC3 on the public comps area. Handicaps range from 24 upwards but it's a good introduction and you'll get to paly some good courses at reasonable rates. Of course if you're brave you could allways go the whole hog and go for the Golfshake Open in Gloucester....

Now Paul, you should be careful what you wish for. You ask for people to talk to you and you have already had Tim "The Nutty Professor" Hawkins and David "Old Man" Marshall. All you need now is Wayne "blind fashion victim" Santorini for the full house. That'll drive you off the forum!!!
Still, I checked out your profile to see where you were based and discovered you're a Dingle so you deserve everything you get......

Hi Paul,
I'm based in Solihull and have had my last few lessons from the pro at your home course, Brandhall (recommended to me by John Flood on here). You may want to give him a try as he does a good deal - five lessons including video analysis for £75 plus a free 2 hour playing lesson.
Unfortunately you won't be able to join us for the Leamington comp as you're too good (24 handicap and over only) but if you can get the day off head down to Gloscester on the 18th.
Oh and Paul, while I'm currently sat in a hotel room in Seattle, I'll be back in time to use the the ticket I have for the first game of the Premiership season where the mighty Albion will put some tinpot team called Arsenal to the sword. Boing boing!

Oh god, there's two of them!!! Thanks for your balanced and honest view on my lot Paul. Felt sorry for you last season for coming so close and missing out. Hopefully you'll get rid of your manager before Chritmas, get someone decent in and the new one will stop playing Mick's favourites and everyone else out of position around them. Here's to a Black Country derby in the top flight next season.
I work for GE Aviation, based in Wolverhampton, but used to have the same employer as you; I worked for Land Rover down at Gaydon on the latest Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Disco in the chassis group. Tend to play the Birmingham Munis (Pype Hayes & Hill Top mainly) with the bro-in-law (fellow baggie). I do half days on a Friday so would be more than happy to meet up with you for a game. I suggest Widney Manor, West Mids, Stonebridge or Hatchford Brook as convinient and reasonable courses for when you finish (assuming you're at Lode Lane).
