After my little blow up last saturday i got 2 books one golf is a game of confidence and the other putting out of your mind. There mainly about the mental side only read one so far. common sence really but after reading it it makes sence. I took a few things out of them one was to start seeing the shot before i hit it, the other one was not getting stuck over the ball( especially with putting i now start my putting back swing at the same time as moving my eyes back from the hole, dont know how tecnically sound this is but it has made me sink some long putts or got me to stop them close) and the best one was once you hit your shot give up all responcibility of it, so now if i duff one i dont let it get to me and forget all about it.
So was out in a qualifier yesterday stokeplay (to get into the match play stages for 0-18 handicaps)  I play off 27 but had only 18 shots. Started off with a few pars. a few scrambles and chip ins. finished the first 9 nett -1.
on the 11th par 3 201 years i duffed my tee shot 50 yards under a tree duffed my 2nd shot 40 yards just short of the river, then  put my 3rd shot 2 foot from the hole. to the disgust of my partner whos tee shot was a yard off the green he took a 5 i took a 4.
On the 13th par 5 hit a good drive, then 2nd shot a snap hook came for no reason at all putting my ball out of bounds scrambeled a 7.  so thought i was out of it just played teh rest with out really keeping the score in my mind. ended up with a par on the 17th and on the 18th hit my tee shot short leaving me a blind shot in the rough up hill to the green 180 yards. pulled out my 4 iron and just swang hoping to get it some where near the green. got up there was 10 feet away from the hole.. So may have one closest to the pin .

When we added up the scores i shot 90 so 72 nett +2. well happy so think i will be getting cut 3 shots, winner shot 69 but i did enough to qualify.
Next week im playing in the other qualifier for th 19-28 handicappers of full handicap so hopefully shoot better

It felt really good to score like that and to be tied 3rd especially when the cocky better players did worse :p then me.
Cant wait to get rid of the duff shots and start playing with a better handicap
