How often do you play?

Following on from my post about equipment, technique and practice, how often do people play, and how often do you visit the range?

I play once a fortnight if I'm lucky and get to the range once a week on average I suppose.  In the summer I play 9 holes after work once a week most weeks.

It seems to me that most people I play with through VGS or Golfshake play far more often, like twice a week, whereas my friends and work colleagues are more like twice a year!

That said I work 8am-6pm Mon-Fri, am married with young children and have a garden to rebuild so I find it hard to find the time / be allowed / be able to afford to play as much as I'd like

Hi Andy. depends on the time of year for me, winter is once a week weather permitting. Spring sees me playing 27 holes a week with the range on occasions if something not right. Summer sees me playing 36 holes minimum but not the range as my game is usually back on track by then. Autumn is the same as spring for me, then back to once a week over winter so i don't seize up.

Wonderful thing retirment you can play as often as you like weather permitting . the worst thing about retirment is you don't get weekends or bank holidys off.

That is why I am a five day member at my club, Brian. I don't play week-ends either.

I like to play twice a week, but am a very fair weather golfer these days, I just hate getting wet.

Also I find it difficult to play two days running, not enough recovery time for me.

What happened at Bristol and Clifton, Kevin, that used to be one of my local courses. I thought it would suit your game.

I work shifts and play nearly every day apart from saturday, practice on weekdays and competitions every sunday.

I play 18 almost every weekend, usually a Sunday morning.  As I am working on the changes I have made to my swing I'm currently going to the range once or twice a week. 

Now the clocks have moved I will try to get 9 in during the week after work once a week if I can instead of going to the range.  If I don't have a midweek playing partner I will play on one of the two local par 3 courses to work my short game. 

I'm definately in the wrong job!

Damn I wish I'd taken the sticks to work today.  Its a glorious evening out there and I really feel like a game, even if only a few holes.  Note to self - keep spare clubs at work!!

Appreciated Col and will take you up.  I was cycling with my daughter in Belfairs woods on Saturday and looking longingly at the course so when the mornings are a little lighter then an early start say 7am on a sat or sun at Belfairs would be great.  Belfairs in just great first thing on a sunny spring morning.

I play every sunday. Then the odd week day if hols allow. Some times saturday too for a society competition. oh and this summer I will be doing 9 holes on a friday night after work...

I work 9 till 5 mon to fri have a lovely wife and a grand teenage daughter. Anybody on here with a "teenage daughter"  will know why I am on the golf course....

Robbie, I have daughter who's 14 this month, a son who's 16 in June, a labrador who's 5½ going on 5 months and a parrot who never shuts up.  My missus can't understand why I play golf at every opportunity
