Getting stuck

Posted by: user46538 | Sat 15th Mar 2008 13:16 | Last Reply

Anyone have a ncie drill to stop getting stuck (blocking)? My swing view from behind is as ugly as they come - right elbow bent and stuck behind body - hands very close to groin.

Where is the video of this swing then, J P. Need to see it before commenting.

The most obvious difference between the two photos is that you have the ball very close to you compared to the other one, because he is using a driver and you a mid iron, I would say.

I also roll my wrists on the backswing but my clubface is open at the top because I cup my left wrist at the top whereas you bow it over.

Try and get a video exactly from behind so that we can see if you are on the correct plane.

You are obviously not clearing your left side, which, as you know, leads the uncoil from the top.

Well Chris, this tells you a lot, halfway down, both feet still firmly planted on the ground, appears to be no weight shift to the left and most certainly you have not led the downswing with with your hips. This is an arms and hands swing only, this would certainly have you pulling them left.

Not so much of the old fart, David, you have never asked for my thoughts on your swing, so I have never offered, but as you well know you hit everything with this slight fade.

You get away with this off the tee by aiming down the left but when you are hitting into the green, you tend to push everything, leaving a lot of pressure on your short game, which can blow hot or cold, depending on your mood at the time.

I don't feel that I can offer anything that would make a significant difference, David as you have had this swing of yours for some time now and it would require a complete radical overhaul.

Learn to live with what you have got, just as I have to, be even sharper with your Vokey and try and get the weight right on the greens and you will soon be enjoying the game again.

Chris, watch the Ben Hogan video on this site, it is brilliant.

You know you are bovvered, just as I am, as to why we cannot play this game anymore.

We will have a nice game on Friday, you may even win.

I think it would be too far for Danny and I notice that we now have 8 players, so the match is now full. We will try and sort something out between us so that we get to play with King Kong again soon.

Would have been nice to be asked though.

Danny, the game at The Hampshire is a VGS event put up by John Standing, it was not my event, I just added my name and mentioned it to David, because it is relatively as near to him as it is to me.

I can also remember you saying to me that at the moment you are too busy to think about playing these away games and I respected that.

It is easy for me to play when I like, as I am a pensioner and I realise that some of us still have to work.

I would love to have a game with you, but it is only you who can tell me when you are free.

I never got a text message.

You're right though. In the process of changing jobs. So time off might be a bit hit and miss.

What a brilliant video JP. The bloke talked so much sense and didn't it look simple. Still I suppose all the really good ideas are simple. I am going to take a bit of time before my Saturday round to try it out. Thanks. Mike
