Disappointment !

Posted by: user79613 | Sat 23rd Feb 2008 11:13 | Last Reply

I have been looking for a new set of irons, really fancied the Taylor Made r7 steel, but at the end of last year they brought out the new Burner XD. When I seen them I thought – right those are the fellows for me.

Was away with my wife last weekend for Valentines Day (yes yes – I can hear you all now, no further pelter's required please) and there was a Nevada Bob's golf shop across from the hotel. She was going to look at some other shop so I said I would got in to the golf shop for a look.

The cheapest I had seen the Burner XD Irons was £520 (steel shaft), Nevada Bob's had them for £499, and the shop had simulator to try them out on..........well 20mins later I had them tested, boxed and bought them. The 6 iron I tried felt great, was getting about 165 yards on average.

So...I then went to look for the 3 & 5 wood, again I wanted the steel shafts. Every shop I looked in seemed to have graphite only, so it was home and back on the net. I ordered the 3 & 5 from Direct Golf – both for £210 (I don't use a driver in case any of you were wondering) and they were arriving yesterday.

I worked from home so that I could wait in for the delivery, about 14:30 they arrived....they look great feel great and by now I was peeing my pants about playing today. I washed my towels, cleaned my balls, cleaned out my tin with tee's, markers etc.....all was set for the next day.

Got up this morning – howling wind, heavy rain........course was closed !!!!!!!!!!! Oh well roll on next weekend.

One of the drawbacks of living on the west side of Scotland, I'm afraid, Stevie. Hope you get out soon to give the new clubs an airing.

But from a golfing point of view, one of the best places in the world to live.
