drills to stop casting
Had a lesson on sunday sorted a few things out weight transfer was the first one, On the video im a mirror of tiger woods at the finish. :P
One thing that the pro did tell me was that my backswing was fine, but i start my downswing wrong, my club go's out rather than down. I sort of understand what he means but how would i practice this at the range, what sort of feeling should it be anyone got any tips.
TIA

I'm not recommending this a a piece of advice, but I was told to pull my right foot away from the target line slightly in order to avoid casting the club from the top resulting in an out to in swing. It has worked wonders for me and promotes the feeling of coming down inside the ball. Has anyone come across this idea before.

Michael, you are setting yourself up for a draw and if you are achieving it then, well done.

It certainly makes sense to me, Paul, I always try to intimate this movement as attempting to put the right elbow in your right pocket on the downswing. This will certainly keep the plane correct and if it can be achieved it would be impossible to cast from that position.

You are quite correct John. The move I have made has given me a far stronger hit which, seems to find the left side of the fairway and has for the first time given me a semblence of a draw. (something that I could never do previously). At worse it travels down the left side and then moves slightly right in the last part of its flight. As I said, I would not presume to offer it as a piece of coaching advice, but have found its a 'magic' move for me. Cheers

Hi Michael, pleased to hear you are striking it solidly now, but if you don't mind me saying so, if your drives are going down the left of the fairway then drifting right at the last moment then that is a fade, unless of course you are left handed, then it would be a draw.

I obviously didn't make myelf clear John. The majority of my tee shots are going away strongly and tending to travel straight or slightly left. Just the occasional ball will still go off left, but have a slight fade at the end. Yes, you are right in describing it as a fade at the end, but compared with the weak fade/slice I hit when coming over the top it is a far more reliable and penetrating flight. I hope that gives a clearer picture of what I feel is happening. Cheers.
