What the club says: The course on the Common, which we share with London Scottish Golf Club, is the second oldest continuing golf course in England and Wales. It was first played on in 1865. It is pre-dated only by Westward Ho in Devon which is about one year older. So it is not surprising the greens are so good - they have had plenty of time to mature.

Used to have good greens, awful place to play now.
An unusual course in that it is played across common land so there is a lot of waiting for dog walkers and others to move to a safe distance. I have played this course many times and the greens used to be very good but they have completely gone now. While other courses in the area have maintained good, firm greens through the last few weeks of rain, the place hasn't. Given the fairways are not maintained, only greens and tees, this is a major disappointment. It is cheap, and has a short and quirky layout. But without the good greens, it's not somewhere I would rush back to play.Reviewer Rating

A beautiful walk
Woodland course very attractively priced with plenty of tee times available. Greens and aprons are in excellent condition. May be short yardage but you don't want to miss the fairways or you will be in trouble. Greens have character with slopes on most necessitating a good read. Fairways are improving following the recent rains. Overall a beautiful morning spent on Wimbledon common but need to be patient as it is shared with walkers and horse riders.(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 92 Handicap: 22.6)

Poor fairways
Greens and tees were in good condition, but fairways were in very poor condition which punished most shots and felt like playing from the rough or bunkers everytime. Course very poorly marked and if it wasn't for members on the course we would have teed off from the wrong tee many a time, including the first. Felt like a glorified pitch and putt and would rather pay the extra £10 to play at nearby courses.Reviewer Rating

Friendly and Welcoming Club
Value for money with a friendly welcome. Would caution that patience is required as course is shared with another club an open to walkers on Wimbledon Common.(Round played: Jul 2020 - Score: 116 Handicap: 22.1)

Cracker
Courses winds through the trees. Tough par 3s; you have to be accurate and they are long. Two are encroached by trees and the 1st has road on the left. Humps and bumps make things interesting, greens are very good and undulating.Reviewer Rating

Greens and tees in great condition
A pleasure to play on a Monday afternoon with the Merton resident discount. Tight and challenging course despite having no bunkers. Quite a few dog walkers about sharing the Common with golfers, needed to whistle or shout a few times before playing shots.Reviewer Rating

Excellent Test
What a great test of golf! The course itself requires you to be arrow straight, so do not be put off by the length, or lack of it. It's a cracking course, and the greens are the best I've played on, and that includes some of the more famous courses! Not quite sure what the group below found, perhaps they lost a few balls and were grumpy, but the members are extremely friendly and inviting, much more so than at any other golf course. Essentially, if you pay a green fee you are a member for the day, and you are treated as such too. There always seems to be a good mix of people in the bar when we visit, which is refreshing, it's not the stuffy 'stand to attention, the General is approaching' attitude you expect from golf clubs. The captain even came over to us and asked how we enjoyed the round and offered to buy us a round of drinks!Reviewer Rating
