What the club says: It is splendidly situated and it is a true seaside course with fine fairways and numerous natural qualities to it such as the stunning views of the coast and sea front.

A Cornwall treat
Always lovely to play a new course. A great links challenge, very tight with the wind and lots of blind shots. Course was in great condition, speed of play was good until the end when members or people who know the course jump about and that slowed us downReviewer Rating

Stunning views, shame about the golf
We played West Cornwall very recently, and I am torn between the stunning views and interesting course layout, with the packed course that led to ridiculously slow play (6 hours), dangerous nature, and the poor quality of the course, in particular the greens which were very below par.The views are as good as any I have seen, and if the course was looked after well it would have been a joy to play - even in heavy wind/rain. The tight nature of the course means lots of blind shots, but there is little other than detail on the card to actually prevent injury and on numerous occasions balls came very close to hitting players. There are no bells on holes, no lookout points, or advice on tee boxes to check before hitting. Consequently it is the most dangerous course I have played.
The course itself is quirky, with some interesting holes, particularly when playing with/against/across wind, but the condition was one of the weakest I have seen - especially in Cornwall. If Trevose, St Enedoc and others can maintain a really healthy green then I see no reason why I should be putting through sand (yes, sand) on a green to get to the pin. They had clearly been infected and little seemed to be done to assist the course. Fairways were ok, but not great and tee boxes were unkempt. The only course I have played that has been worse for this level of quality of reputation has been Isle of Purbeck.
So I would recommend go for the day, wander around the course as some walkers did, leave the sticks at home, and play some of the many better courses in Cornwall that are kept in much better order and won't mean you will potentially run the risk of being hit by a ball.

Fun & Quirky Links
I know it may not be to some ‘purists’ taste, but I found West Cornwall to be fun, quirky, interesting & just a classic links course. The crumpled fairways through 3, 4 & 8 are stunning, add to that the views across to St Ives & Gwithian & it’s just breathtaking.
OK you have to share a couple of fairways & a couple of times your teeing over greens, but that added to the fun.
Yes there are a couple of weak spots, 5, 6 & 7 isn’t the best triangle of holes & the course comes to a gentle close with 17 & 18 two of the weakest holes on the course.
However the rest more than makes up for it. You’ve got to pick your way round, avoid the gorse & the thick grass & if you do you’ll be rewarded with a great golfing experience.
The greens aren’t in the greatest condition in places, but they still run quick & it feels like they are improving rather than going backwards.
To top all this off the staff & the locals are all very friendly.
It’s the second time I’ve played here & hopefully not the last.

Like playing golf on a driving range.
Course has great views and some interesting holes but won't be rushing back to play. Course is so tight so at times you have to wait to see off or you would be doing so over people's heads. We nearly got hit and I've never heard so many shouts of fore.(Round played: Sep 2020 - Score: 100 Handicap: 23.5)

First time
Played this course as a guest of a member and it was great. Obviously shortcomings during Covid-19 such as no clubhouse afterwards but this is understandable.(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 88 Handicap: 17.3)

Best course in the west of Cornwall
A biased review as it's my Club. The course is a fantastic test for all abilities, 9/10 times the wind will test your links metal. The standout hole for me is the 10th, a short par 4. A blind tee shot on the right line for the long hitter will reward a low score.A must play course if your visiting the Duchy.

Amazing Views!!
Lovely course with outstanding views over the coastline. Little bit crowded in places with tee boxes mid fairway on previous hole. Lots of blind tee shots which will be easier second time round I'm sure! All in all a fantastic challenging course well worth a visit and will return!Reviewer Rating

Proper Old School Golf Course
Really enjoyed my visit to West Cornwall.A proper old fashioned course that you have to think your way around which is great.
I think I hit driver once on the front 9.
The fairways are undulating and compact and a fair few blind shots - but these are well marked out)
The greens and bunkers are superb.
The front 9 feels a lot tighter and there is a few chances to open up on the back with some stunning views over the small local town and sea.
If the wind picks up it will become a real test! But enjoyable one.

A great place to play golf
What an experience. Great course interesting holes and amazing views. I suspect it would be a lot tougher when wind really blows. Only concern is a lot of blind tee shots(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 96 Handicap: 18.8)

A superb lay out with a lot of blind shots, but that's because of the dunes & other natural obstacles. The whole course was in excellent condition, with the greens fast & true.
You've really got to think your way around this golf course & I'd love to play it again as there are a number of different choices I'd make.
If you're in Cornwall & want a round of golf you have to play this course.
