What the club says: A full eighteen hole true Championship Course of 6,835 yards (par 70 S.S.S. 74). There are however, none of the modern water hazards but ninety four bunkers and long carries over masses of heather. It is a great challenge and a very well kept course.

Top 100 UK course - Sherwood Forest
First time playing Sherwood Forest, loved the setting and the environment & fantastic practice facilities, nice entrance onto the 1st tee, etc. Fairways are well-manicured and very hard, with decent bounce and rollout. Greens are patchy and bobbly, not running smoothly to be honest, and made it difficult to judge putts. Bunkers are poor, not much sand in them, and it felt like playing on concrete to be honest, struggled to take any sand with bunker shots. The heather this time of year had been cut back, and I'm sure in the summer it plays as a different challenge too. Overall very much enjoyed the challenge of this course.Reviewer Rating

Warm Welcome
Generally reviews focus on the course and rightly so, this courses reputation is up there with the best and it delivers. What you don't always see is commentary about how well you were received; Sherwood Forest members take a bow - several went out of their way to make time to say hello and hope we enjoyed the course. We did.A well priced green fee including a light lunch in a well appointed, and busy, bar. A great day.

Great looking tradittional woodland course
Beautifully presented and plenty of Heather and gours. The wind played its part too. Would love to play there again one day when my 3wd doesnt let me down. The course was i great condition and greens true and fast. Were told that this was playable usually a lot more difficult. Mind you cost of round was not ideal. REK played out of his skin for 1st 9holes - 23pts. Calmed down a bit but won easily. Scored 36pts to my 31pts as nearest challengerReviewer Rating

Absolute beauty
Played the Forester 2023 event with a much needed practice round the day before, what a course and brill layout. greens excellent and slick. score on the front 9 and hold on round the back 9. you will need your A game with the driver or a spotter :-) £55 with lunch and 54 holes (inc practice round) best value for money EVER. Staff especially Maria outstanding along with super friendly chef/bar staff. the event was really well organised and even with bad weather a joy to attendReviewer Rating

Great course but serious challenge!!!
Sherwood Forest is a excellent golf course and will give any golfer a serious challenge. Despite playing in November, the fairways were bone dry and in very good condition, minimal scaring etc, tee boxes were excellent. The greens had been tinned so difficult to judge, but all the signs where there that they would be superb in the summer. The facilities are good and the club house is very picturesque and echos tradition. The course it's self is extremely challenging, and almost every hole has at least roughly around 150 yards carry in heathland. So accuracy off the tee is essential! To fully enjoy this course in all its glory, I would recommend a handicap of at least 18 to enjoy this course to its full potential All in all this is a great course and one for any golfer to tick off his list.Reviewer Rating

Picturesque course in Notts
Sherwood Forest is a great course, in sublime condition. A tough course to score well on as its very easy to roll into the long grass and heather, but a good challenge. Practice facilities are improving - and the soon-to-be opened range looks great.Reviewer Rating
