What the club says: Regent Park Golf Club was designed by James Braid in 1931 and opened its doors to the golfing public in 1932 . The golf course is run by Regent Park Golf Course Ltd who since taking over from the Bolton Metro have made considerable changes and investment. The introduction of a golf range and refurbisment of the club house a few years ago has only enhanced the Golf Clubs reputation in the area and is still as popular with the golfing public as ever.

Improving Course
I was slightly critical in my review of June last year, but the course has definitely improved.I highlighted scruffy tee beds & slow greens. This year the tee beds were much better & although recently hollow tined, the greens were a lot better.
There's no questioning the layout, it's a lovely track.
I do stand by my comments of last time that a couple of the par 5's should be par 4's.

Difficult
It's a difficult review to write, Regent Park is a great layout, but needs a bit of work on the scruffy tee boxes & slow greens. It's difficult, because it's obviously a golf course which is working hard to improve itself & offer a great golfing experience.
I'd also question a couple of the par 5's, they really should be par 4's. To counter that though, all the par 3's are very challenging.
Don't discount Regents Park because of this review, because I'll be returning very soon to play a really well laid out golf course & look forward to see how they keep improving things.

Great value
First visit to Regent Park today and was really presently surprised with the entire setup. Booked online and had a choice of tee times. Only £20 for a midweek 8am tee time is great value. Helpful and welcoming lady in the club shop. You can order food from the 9th tee and collect before you play hole 10.Reviewer Rating

Great golf course
Great conditions, fairways were brilliant. Greens a little waterlogged in small parts on a few holes but it has been raining heavily this weekend.Other than that the greens were great and have been managed amazing since I last played the wet weather has definitely help them and they have been rolling well. Can’t wait to see the clubhouse extension when finished.

Course fine . Disappointed with the rest
We had travelled 100 miles to play here before a footy match in the area. Having booked online and ordered a buggy in advance it was disappointing to be told that due to a wet course buggies were for members only. I asked why this wasn't on the website at the point of booking I was told it would have been best to ring ahead. I had 8 times between 8.15 and 9.30 and showed my call log to the lady dealing with us. " I must have been outside" . We played the course and enjoyed it. It was very windy which increased the challenge and although shorter we enjoyed the back nine over the front nine. After the round we asked for the changing rooms. Sorry these are for members only! For the golf only it was OK. Having travelled that distance then as an experience it was disappointing

Unbelievable turn around for this Golf course
So i was a member at regent park last year and to be quite honest the course wasn't in the best shape so i left to join a different course, yesterday my course was closed so i headed down to regent park again to try it out as i have heard that there has been some mega improvements, what i heard was not wrong i was very surprised to see that the course was in amazing condition (also yesterday it was raining all day) you can tell a lot of hard work has been put into the condition of the course and i take my golf cap off to all the very friendly staff and groundkeepers! I would highly recommend to give regent park another shot and not to take on the reviews which were put on last year as the turn around is unbelievable from then! I will definitely be coming back to play again,In regards to pricing, to play the full 18 it is only £12 on a weekday, (not sure how much weekend prices are right now but im sure this will be displayed on their website) which is a bargain for what you get considering how much it is to play at other courses these days, the range has also very reasonable pricing and is great to smash a few balls before heading out to the course,
It also has foot golf which is a great alternative to the people who may not be able to swing a golf club as well as they can kick a ball so regent park really has it all
Overall i recommend any beginner, intermediate, highly skilled golfer to try regent park as it fits for every type of golfer and to not read the reviews from last year as it is a completely different course from what it was then

Rubbish condition
I have to say that this course now has to be the worst municipal golf course in the North west, weeds growing in every bunker, the sand for the bunkers is in the car park instead of being in the bunker. On the 1st hole you are welcomed with pot holes on the first green. The front 9 holes I am surprised I did I not see ducks swimming on the fairways, the drainage on the bottom front holes is shocking, I wouldn’t mind but the 3,4,5 holes have been remodelled so you’d have thought they would have invested in effective drainage. After being a member going back 10 years ago and returning to golf 4mths ago, I decided to go and play the course, I will never play there again. I will say that the staff that work in the shop/range are very friendly.Reviewer Rating

Miserable start
There had been incessant rain the day before and a 8 am start was at hole 10 - the back nine was playable. Then on the front nine we played 1 & 2 and the 7, 8 & 9. The rest of the course was flooded and the holes were unplayable. There was the option to make 18 holes. A miserable start to the round but we finished in sunshineReviewer Rating

Just played 18 holes, disgrace!Course condition is a disgrace. Bunkers with weeds and rubble in them, other bunkers had minimum of sand in them which was very compact. Greens very bumpy, holes dotted about them and very patchy.
Bottom part of course is a quagmire, lots of surface water and a General mudbath made even worse by people driving buggies up and down fairways even though notices say keep off. Pace of play is ridiculously slow at times as well . Overall a bad experience, keep away, you've been warned!

Not suitable for cattle to graze on
I don't understand how after 8 weeks of no footfall the course can be worse than its ever been. The front 9 has been around a few years now but still looks like it's just been done. The back 9, which has been around forever is slightly better but still needs some TLC. Major investment required here, because charging ?15 for that is an absolute disgrace. Awful fairways. Maintenance half done and you may as well call the greens GUR.Reviewer Rating
