What the club says: Established in 1895, Goring & Streatley Golf Club is an 18 hole, par 71 golf course set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Berkshire with panoramic views of the Thames Valley, the Ridgeway and the River Thames. Much of the course was designed by Harry Colt, who was also responsible for Sunningdale and Wentworth.
Goring and Streatley Golf Club is a downland golf course with undulating land, mature trees and strategically placed bunkers. It is a varied and challenging course. The greens at Goring and Streatley are renowned for being fast, true and in great condition. It is a friendly club with an established golf course, a rare cocktail indeed.
There is a restaurant specialising in home-made, locally-sourced produce, four bars and three function rooms. A short distance from the M4 and A34 makes it an easy venue to find – perfect if you wish to host a society day or just play a round.
Golf Monthly called it "A hidden gem".

Enjoyable round with great views
Course in great condition after the wet winter. Greens were as tricky if a bit slower than usual. Some changes since I last played with some bunkers now grass instead of sand but it doesn't make it any easier.Reviewer Rating

Thanks G&S
28 members from Burnham Beeches Golf Club went for a day at Goring & Streatley. What a great day we had, from the very moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble from the team. Great opening speech, advising us of where to go and not go on the course, brilliant half way house. The course was excellent and met the legend David Lane! A superb selection of beers and wine afterwards, lovely food too. Thank you to all the staff at G&S - gets our vote and well worth a society outing for your society next summer.Reviewer Rating

One of the most immaculate courses i have played!
This is truly a hidden gem and I don't say that lightly, it really is. Played on a lovely summers morning in June 2023 and was met with greens like snooker tables, tee boxes like greens and fairways of lush green grass. Bunkers looking freshly cut and edged to perfection and the definition between fairways, first cut, aprons, fringes and greens was really well defined. The front 5 or 6 holes are torture on the heart rate and lungs but enjoy them as it's gets easier. Hole 2 was my favourite with hole 17 as the one I found most challenging. Absolutely lovely experience and I would go back if I did not live 3 hours away. If you are close by play it, you will not regret it. They do a good breakfast too.Reviewer Rating

A gem of a course.
Had heard good reviews and reports about Goring & Streatley, and I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. Tucked away in the Berkshire countryside. From the moment I arrived and was greeted by various people, I felt as though I was actually a member of the club, even if it was for one day. Was playing in a Mixed Pairs event, so expected the hospitality to be good and it was in fact, very good. There was a couple of driving nets by the car park. The putting green was lightning quick and I was informed by the starter for the competition, that the actual greens on the course were even quicker. That was an understatement. It was like putting on glass, they were very, very quick. There is also a chipping area and a green a short drive up a lane between the 2nd green and 3rd tee. The course itself meanders its way through some superb land that has been used to create a fantastic golf course. The first four holes gradually rise up, with holes 2, 3 and 4 having quite steep fairways and rises up, but after that, the course opens up and is fairly flat, before you then come dramatically down from the 17th and 18th to the clubhouse. There is a great selection of holes, with tempting drives to short par-4's and short par-3's, but with some long par 4's and 3's that test your game to the full. Run off areas flank a lot of the greens that make holding chips on them very hard, especially with the quickness of them. There is a halfway hut by the side of the 14th tee that stocks a good selection of drinks and nibbles. I would say my favourite holes would be 14 to 18, the finishing 5 holes offer just about everything you want from a golf course. A shortish par 4, a mid-length par-5, with some of the best views you're likely to see on a golf course, a long par-3 and the finishing 2 holes would grace most courses. A dramatic downhill par-5, that you can't actually see from the tee, but it's superb and the 18th is a great finishing par-4 that sweeps downhill again, towards the impressive, new look clubhouse. Was I impressed, yes. Did it meet expectation, yes. Would I return and play again, a definite yes. Thumbs up from me.Reviewer Rating

Great course
Hidden away on the Oxfordshire and Berkshire border, this is a must play if you’re in the area. No surprise that the greenkeepers have won awards, as the course was in fantastic condition all round. As for the greens, as good as I have experienced anywhere. Fast, true, receptive and interesting. Apparently they’re not even at their quickest yet either. Highlight holes for me were 2, 7, 14, 16 and 18. Members were friendly and facilities superb. Highly rated. A bargain on a county card.Reviewer Rating

I always enjoy a visit to Goring & Streetley and the greens are always in top ondition and challenging without being quirky. If you find hilly courses difficult to walk then not for you or perhaps hire a buggy.
Welcome and food was excellent.

First game
This course is exceptionally managed. The greens and tee boxes were the best I have seen in years and at a reasonable day rate. The course layout and views were perfect. I would join if it was not so far from where I live.Reviewer Rating

Great views
Course was playing pretty well considering the awful weather from the recent storm. Greens were very good for winter but a were a little slow, fairways were pretty firm under foot. They did have temp tee areas in some places but were grass so you could put a tee down. Loved the some of views as you walked the higher ground, the slopes and undulations made the course very interesting especially around the green areas.(Round played: Feb 2022 - Score: 79 Handicap: 13.4)
