What the club says: The scenery is stunning with breathtaking views, especially from the 12th tee, where the whole of the course can be seen. The River Medlock is featured on six of the holes as it meanders through the course.

Great course
Lovely course really enjoyed it. Although it is a short par all holes are very challenging and different. I would recommend this to all types of golfers.Reviewer Rating

Brookdale is an excellent course.Well worth a visit. Believe me.
Cheeky round of golf while working in Manchester. Read reviews and chose Brookdale to play. Every hole had mats, but was expected after the rain, but 18 greens fully open was surprising, but with flags cut close to the edges of greens to protect, was sensible. From the minute I arrived and was greeted by Karen Heywood the club professional in the pro-shop, I was treated and felt as though I was a fully fledged, paid up club member, which made me feel more than welcome. Karen explained the course and the subtle and not so subtle slopes. Paid ?15 for the round, very reasonable, and armed with course layout sheet, headed to the 1st Tee. Now there are some exceptionally stunning and difficult holes at Brookdale and I thoroughly enjoyed my round there. To pick favourite holes would be disrespectful to the course design and hole layouts as there so many excellent holes, but if I was pushed then the complete back 9 holes are a true test of golf. Don't get me wrong there are some excellent holes on the front 9 too, namely the 3rd,4th,5th,7th, 8th and 9th. The 1st is a good starting hole with a severely sloping fairway right to left and I was only slightly disappointed with the 2nd and 6th holes, but that is just personal, as they are good, but just lacked a little something for me. The slopes and hill climbs just added to the degree of enjoyment, as they test every aspect of your game. The views from the top of the course are stunning and just added to the enjoyment of playing Brookdale. The clubhouse is 70's style, but that adds to the ambiance of the golf club and course. The proshop, although small, has everything you need and there's also a swing studio that can be used, if booked. Food was great, good choice of alcohol and beverages with friendly staff everywhere, even one of the club gardeners tending his garden patch on the walk between the 6th green and 7th tee, had time for a quick chat. Charming. The only thing that I can suggest that needs to be improved, are the practice facilities. There are a couple of driving nets behind the clubhouse and a small putting green, with 5/6 holes. If these were improved, then Brookdale would be fantastic. Put it this way, if I lived 180 miles closer to it, I'd seriously consider joining to become a member, it's that enjoyable. Believe me. If you get the chance, go and play here.Reviewer Rating

Great course.
Although in modern course layouts, Brookdale wouldn't fit that criteria, it is still a fantastic course to challenge all levels. The relatively short par fours have you thinking you'll smash the course, but the lay of the land, the well placed bunkers and the river Medlock, all come into play to have you thinking about your next shot. It's a course I've not overly played, yet now having played it again, I will be back to play it more often. Hopefully scoring better than 82.
