What the club says: The course has proved to be a challenge for both high and low handicaps and offers spectacular views into Dovedale and the Peak District. The greens are also built to modern USGA specification.

Since the opening of the new 18-holes the course has hosted the DUGC Boys Championship and the DLCGA Country Foursomes. The Derbyshire Alliance has also resumed its close association with the club and staged numerous competitions. Midland Area Boys Championship to be held in 2020.

Nice course, closed facilities

Overall found the course to be in great condition. Never played it before so was hitting very blind with some of the holes due to no knowledge of what was happening over a hill or round a corner. If you struggle with a little with mobility then I'd give this course a miss as it very much down the hill the up again for the first nine which is a slog at times with a push trolley. I nearly gave up the round by the 8th due to my own mobility but managed to play on.
We were going to have something to eat and drink after the round but the clubhouse was all closed and locked up at 5pm! So I can't comment on the facilities.
The club shop was staffed by someone who clearly didn't want to be there as we barely got a grunt out of him when we booked in for our round.
Great value for money, nice course but I won't be returning at any point.

Ashbourne

Played here on a sunny Sunday evening and really enjoyed the course. The tees, fairways and greens were in really good condition, and as far as the holes go my favourite was probably the uphill par 3 9th, although I enjoyed all of the par 3's.

Of the rest the downhill par 4 11th will remain in the memory, and the 12th will have you wondering just how far you can afford to hit your tee shot with water at the bottom of the fairway.

With one or two exceptions the fairways are reasonably friendly, so a course that anyone can really play. I'm not saying they'll necessarily score well though. The greens are pretty tricky though.

It's not a flat course, so if you have any issues with a few climbs then this might be one to consider getting a buggy. It is worth playing though.

First time there

The course is beautiful, it is hilly so im glad i used a buggy, everyone there was welcoming and said hi, the warm up facilities are great, the pro shop is very small and there werent any course guides which i could have done with, the bacon butty at the halfway house was 10/10, i will return.

Lovely course in the edge of the Peak District

A quite challenging course for all abilities, with great views! The course is well maintained with consistently good greens. All the par 3?s provide a challenge, then there are a mixture of more challenging par 4 and 5?s with some that appear more straight forward. A course you have to plot your way round.

Worth a visit

Not played here in about 15 years when I used to be a member. The course has come on so much in that time. It will certainly not be another 15 years. I will be back soon
