Mendip Ladies Past Captains played their annual match last Month. The twelve ladies played their match in blistering heat and humidity. Fran Davies won the Past Captains Trophy with 33 points she put her win down to having just returned from Portugal where she had played in similar temperatures, other ladies found the conditions very difficult. Following the match the ladies were joined by two other past Captains who no longer play they then sat down to eat a well earned meal with several long cold drinks!

Mendip Ladies hosted an Open Bowmaker on Tuesday 31st July, Teams from Mendip and seventeen other clubs competed in less than summery weather. Many ladies found that the course was playing long following overnight rain and the pin positions were challenging after the weekend Pro Am. The team form Taunton Vale  of Anne George, Jeanne Leader and Carole Patterson rose to the challenge and score 84 points to be overall winners. The first visitors team of Chris Down, Gail Proctor and Jackie Walker from Mendip & Farrington scored 71 points and the first Mendip team of Sandy Nott, Diane Stanton and Sarah Whiting from Mendip & Filton scored 73 points. The club house was full for the presentation with very contented golfers and in their speech the overall winners said that they are keen to return to Mendip next year in hopefully better weather.
