Where to Visit For a UK Winter Golf Break

By: Kieran Clark | Wed 09 Oct 2024

We hate to admit it, but winter is creeping towards us, but that doesn't mean your golf season has to end! Between November and February, you may be inclined to lock away your clubs for a few months, which could be considered a mistake when you see these destinations that you can experience.

Our travel partners Golfbreaks have picked out a range of venues across the UK that you can play at this time of year, with exclusive savings being available to offer you tremendous value for money.

When you consider the playability and quality of conditioning at these courses, you have to conclude that they present a superb winter golf option.

Extend your season for 12 months and give yourself a golf treat to brighten up those winter days!

The Belfry

The Belfry

Iconic Ryder Cup stage, The Belfry has a variety of possibilities for you to choose from. You can stay for one night (with bed & breakfast) and play the Derby Course for £99pp, or you could take on both it and the PGA National Course for £129pp. However, we reckon that the standout is a two-night stay for £279pp, where you can play all three layouts, including the revered Brabazon Course!

Forest of Arden

Forest of Arden

Home to a pair of excellent golf courses, Forest of Arden draws many visitors to Warwickshire each year, and you can play both of them several times, whether you stay for one night (£149pp), two nights (£277pp) or three nights (£376pp). That's a decent winter outing!

Forest Pines Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

Forest Pines

Enjoy dinner, bed & breakfast at Forest Pines, where you can stay for one night and two rounds for £120pp, two nights and three rounds for £209pp, or three nights and unlimited rounds across the courses for £330pp. Sounds good to us!

Celtic Manor

Celtic Manor

Much like The Belfry, Celtic Manor is a Ryder Cup destination with three courses, and you could experience all of them, including the Twenty Ten, during a two-night stay for £236pp or a three-night stay for £358pp. But if you fancy a less expensive visit to Wales, then you can stay for one night and play the Montgomerie and Roman Road for £88pp!

Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort

Slaley Hall

What about the luxury of Slaley Hall in Northumberland, where, in a great deal, you can enjoy one night, dinner, bed & breakfast - and play both the Hunting Course and Priestman Course - for just £115pp. You could even extend that stay to two nights for £199pp or three nights (with unlimited golf on the Priestman) for £324pp.

Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa

Hill Valley

Set within idyllic Shropshire countryside, Hill Valley is a popular spot and you could sample both the Sapphire and Emerald courses for £104pp if you stay for one night, dinner bed & breakfast, with additional rounds available should you stay for two nights (£199pp) or three nights (£229pp).

De Vere Wokefield Estate

Wokefield Estate

This is a beautiful place near Reading and you could stay for one night (with dinner and breakfast) and play two rounds on its superb course for only £99pp. Should you wish to make that three rounds, then why not make it a two-night visit for £214pp!

Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

Oulton Hall

With 27 holes to play, this is a fantastic golf complex, and you could spend one memorable night there (with dinner and breakfast) for £115pp! And you can take that a step further by staying for two nights (£199pp) or even three nights (£323pp).

The Oxfordshire Golf, Hotel & Spa

The Oxfordshire

This is a brilliant venue and one that never fails to impress. Why not make this winter the time when you see for yourself? Stay for one night (with dinner and breakfast) and play two rounds for £149pp, or two nights and three rounds for £269pp, or how about three nights and four rounds for £399pp!

Champneys Mottram Hall Hotel, Golf & Health Spa

Mottram Hall

Located in Cheshire, there is a lot to like about Mottram Hall, and you can love it too by staying for one night (with dinner and breakfast) and two rounds of golf for £124pp, or two nights and three rounds for £233pp!

Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa

Shrigley Hall

Staying in the county of Cheshire, the country house of Shrigley Hall is a great choice for golfers this winter. Stay for one night (with dinner and breakfast) and play two rounds for £95pp or two nights and three rounds for £182pp!

Meon Valley Hotel & Country Club

Meon Valley

Situated in Hampshire, Meon Valley is popular with visitors - and for very good reason. You can discover just why that is by staying for one night (with dinner and breakfast) and two rounds for £99pp, or you can extend that stay for an extra night for £208pp or maybe even three nights and three rounds for £228pp!

St Mellion Estate

St Mellion

This is a spectacular venue in Cornwall, home to the Nicklaus Course and Kernow Course. You can spend one night (with dinner and breakfast) and play both of them for an exceptional £139pp! Should you wish to stay a little longer, a two-night visit will cost £229pp, with a three-nighter coming in at £309pp.

Fairmont St Andrews

Fairmont St Andrews

Overlooking the spiritual Home of Golf, Fairmont St Andrews is a stunning place to experience, offering luxury facilities and two courses on-site. You could stay for one night and play both of them this winter for £205pp, or you could make it three nights and enjoy unlimited golf for £325pp. But we rather like the two-night, three-round package that includes the Old Tom Morris designed New Course in the old town itself for £445pp!

Hilton Puckrup Hall

Puckrup Hall

Highly Recommended on Golfshake, Puckrup Hall is a fantastic place to visit in Worcestershire, offering a great hotel, facilities and golf course, which you could visit for one night (with dinner and breakfast) and two rounds for £147pp, two nights for £284pp or three nights for £411pp!

Craigielaw Lodge

Kilspindie

East Lothian is known as Scotland's Golf Coast and this winter could be the perfect time to discover why! Stay for one night at the Craigielaw Lodge (with dinner and breakfast) and you can play both Craigielaw and the thrilling Kilspindie for £185pp! If you wish to add an extra night, you can play another round for a total of £285pp, while enthusiasts may favour a bigger package, staying for three nights and also playing both Gullane No. 3 and Longniddry for £669pp!

Heacham Manor Hotel

Heacham Manor

Norfolk is home to Heacham Manor - recently visited by Golfshake Ambassador Rob Treanor - and you can see what makes this place special for one night, dinner, bed & breakfast and two rounds of golf for £138pp, or two nights and three rounds for £242pp!

Mercure Swansea Hotel

Royal Porthcawl

Wales is home to many incredible golf courses - and the Mercure in Swansea is the ideal base from which to discover them! Stay for one night and play both the acclaimed Royal Porthcawl and Ashburnham for £219pp! For just £365pp, you can make that two nights with an extra round at Pennard. It doesn't get better than that!

Best Western Woodlands

Monifieth

The area around Dundee is where you'll find some fantastic Scottish golf courses, and you could stay in the city for £249pp and play the acclaimed Panmure (where Ben Hogan practiced ahead of the 1953 Open), the Medal Course at Monifieth, and the excellent Downfield!

Dundonald Links Lodges

Dundonald Links

We love Dundonald Links, and you will too after staying in one of their on-site lodges, where you can experience the layout itself, Irvine Bogside and Kilmarnock Barassie for £445pp! Stay an extra night and play a fourth round at Gailes Links for £645pp, or go all out on a trip and make it three nights and include a fifth round at Western Gailes for £989pp

Greywalls Hotel

Muirfield

Back to East Lothian, the Greywalls Hotel in Gullane is your pathway to play the legendary Muirfield golf course! Play it (or North Berwick's famed West Links) and Longniddry for £385pp

Dornoch Station Hotel

Royal Dornoch

Finally, we got to the far north of Scotland, where you can stay at the Dornoch Station Hotel for one night and play both the renowned Championship Course at Royal Dornoch and Old Course at Moray for £445pp! But if you want to stay for two or three nights, then one package offers rounds on Tain, Fortrose & Rosemarkie and Brora for £249pp, and the other adds Golpsie for £419pp to make for an unforgettable Highland golf break!
