Review Comment: "Haven't played the West Course at Royal Ashdown for 13 years but was so pleased to find it exactly how I remembered. Really slick greens with plenty of subtle run-offs. Loads of gorse to punish stray shots as well as the rough being up due to the wet weather and sunshine we've been experiencing. Pro shop is well stocked and the pro there was really friendly. Definitely won't be leaving it so long next time."
Saunton Golf Club

It has a real mixture of lengths, angles to come into pins and also considering the rain we have had this past week, the drainage means there wasn't one boggy area. The greens, tees and fairways were all in excellent condition, and there are just so many wonderfully framed holes. Some of the bunkers looked fearsome but fortunately I only went in one. The heather I visited way too often, however. This is a lovely course, but I imagine that you already knew that."

Review Comment: "After an horrendously wet winter I was transported to high summer golfing conditions with the added twist of the sort of features that I have never really seen before in all my years of optimistic swinging. Coffin bunkers, stealthily placed on the edges of raised greens. More conventional bunkers, but laced with heather tops. It is unusual, perhaps preposterous, to encounter such a double hazard, but, hey, you are out to have fun so should only smile! I have not played two rounds in a day for many years but I survived and to my surprise broke 100 on both courses. The club offers tremendous value for money as a full society catered package, most probably the best in this renowned golfing area."

Review Comment: "Located outside St Andrews, the Fairmont is a golf resort and the Torrance Course is a tough one. It is not really a links course and the rough is penal. There are some memorable holes but many do not stand out and quite a few are very similar. The par 5 holes are all strong, good holes and there is some variety in the par 3 holes and a couple of the par 4 holes but many are long slogs into the prevailing wind. Conditioning was good but it was a real challenge if you don't have your A game."
Hilton Park Golf Club

Conditions underfoot were heavy after overnight rain, but the course held up very well and the greens were in excellent condition and putted very well. Lots of variation to the holes across the 18 holes making good use of the hilly surroundings. The bunkers were in great condition and the trees keep you on your toes!"

The view as you walk onto the 5th green is breathtaking. It was fairly tough and expensive to play the course, but it was worth it to play one of the top ten golf courses in the world."
