What the club says: The country's only self-contained river island golf course, King James VI Golf Club offers a beautiful but challenging environment for both novices and advanced players alike.
Founded in 1858 nearby at Perth's South Inch, then relocated to Moncrieffe Island, elsewhere in Perth, in 1897, and a purpose-built golf course designed by 'Old' Tom Morris, the legendary winner of multiple British Open Golf Championships.

Lovely course
This is one of the flattest courses in Scotland, there's hardly a hill on it. But this is balanced out by possibly the most bunkers I've ever seen on a golf course. Very wide but not too deep.We got stuck behind a very slow 3 ball but luckily they walked off on on the 9th.
Downsides - because its on an island, you have to park in a Pay and Display Car Park next to Perth Inches Park. Costs about about 4 quid for up to 4 hours. You then have to walk up quite steep stairs and over a very narrow bridge. Very hard to get a trolley up and then back down. All in all its about 15 min walk each way car park to clubhouse.

What a Hidden gem in Perth.
First of all I have to say I was a bit hesitant as its quite a walk to get to the course. Having said that the course is superb and well worth the visit. Very flat but lots of variance for the holes. The holes over the banks are interesting to say the least. Aim for the top of the flag and hope for the best as it is a blind landing. be prepared for quite a haul if carryong or trolley but at the end, you will be glad you did.(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 84 Handicap: 13)
