What the club says: Bute Golf Club is a special golfing experience close to the sands of Stravannan Bay on the west coast of the beautiful Isle of Bute. The unique nine-hole Kingarth course provides an opportunity to sample the very origins of the game. Golf has been played here for more than 120 years, making it the oldest course on the island.

Amazing!

This is an incredible course for £20. It is right by the sea. The first three holes are the best. The first starts from a slight rise next to the dimunitive clubhouse, before the second takes you down to the shoreline. Then the third hole is where you tee off along side the beach. The remaining holes are not so scenic, but still nice. It is in good condtion, with practice facilities of a putting green and a hitting net.

I played in August and went back a month later.

I have played this course over the years from when it wqas shared with the local farmer for grazing and the greens had fences around them for protection. The improvments I found in September 2012 I thought were very impressive. The greens are better thefairways and general course upkeep mucuh better and drainage has been improved greatly in parts and some landscaping has made very difficult areas much more playable. The Club house facilities are non existent but it shows that the available finace has been spent on the course including a much improved access road and parking area by the club house where before you had a quarter mile walk from the main road.
The Scenery is fantastic with the isle of Arran as a dramatic backdrop. Play this course and get a months worth of fresh sea air in a single round. The 19th hole at the nearby Kingarth hotel is also a pleasant surprise good food and 50 or so malts to choose from.
