What the club says: Routenburn Golf Course, opened 1913, is a fantastic example of a James Braid designed golf course. Although not the longest course, at 5262 yards, this hilly, moorland course offers a challenge for all levels of golfers as well as some breathtaking views over to Arran, the Cumbraes and beyond.??Routenburn is the course where Sam Torrance developed his skills under the watchful eye of his father Bob Torrance, before going on to become a leading player on the European Tour, a regular member of Europe’s Ryder Cup Team, the 2002 Ryder Cup Captain & than a leading contender on the European Seniors Tour. ??

Fantastic views
In lovely condition, and not too busy. The course offers a decent challenge with some quite challenging holes. Whilst walking round there are some fantastic views, overlooking Largs, the local area and the sea. The members and pro are all welcoming and friendly.Reviewer Rating

good course to visit

Played here couple times this season will definitely play again course in great condition greens are top notch. Clubhouse and locker room excellent recently been done up there is also golf simulator been added to club house course is definitely worth visit

Having been a member since 2002 with a slight break ‘2014-18’ Routenburn is probably in the best condition I have ever seen it. Fantastic value for money. Also the clubhouse has had some renovation work done including new high standard toilets and changing facilities and is a work in progress. Recently a golf simulator has been added in the back room, great for practise on a rainy day or a laugh with friends.Reviewer Rating

Great golf course to visit
Played the course couple times this season greens are in excellent condition the improvements to the clubhouse and locker room area again excellent club have also put in golf simulator very much club going in the right direction highly recommend playing hereReviewer Rating

Superb Course Club House Dismal
Great course, quite challenging with spectacular views. Pro shop great and course in excellent condition. Club house poor, mostly not open(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 81 Handicap: 14.9)

Ive played 103 courses last year and this was my 30th this year and have to say my favourite course that Ive played. The scenery over the firth of clyde to the islands just breathtaking , the golf course great fun to play with terrific variations of holes -really felt like a privelege to play it. Joined a member at the second (Archie) who was tremendous company especially helping me with the odd blind shot. Although just the portakabin for booking, the welcome was extremely friendly - cant say more than great course, great scenery and great fun to play.

I was a golf professional for 23 years and now have returned to an amateur. I play Routenburn regularly and all I can say is it is a cracking test of golf, with all various golf shots required. I love the course and would urge people to play this course.

The course is excellent, provides a good challenge and the views across the Clyde to the islands are wonderful. The clubhouse facilities however are non existent apart from the toilets. As long as you are aware of this Routenburn should be on every golfers must play list.
