Wow. Just beautiful. Never been here before but had heard about it.So much water, no two holes the same, the greens are fantastic, the layout is just wonderful. Looks like 3 or 4 bunkers either need repairing or filling in and 1 tee box needs sorting out. The 10th I think.
I would’ve given it a 10/10 if they had been done and I’ve only given out 2 this year in 37 courses!
I have been fortunate to have played some very special courses over the years, many in the UK top 100, and Collingtree could very quickly, with just a little work, join the simply superb bracket.
How on earth does this not register on an England top 100 course list? I can only think because of those ropey 3 or 4 bunkers because the rest of it is a delight.
If the 3rd, 9th and 18th were on a UK top 10 course, we would be constantly talking about them.
Will definitely be back. The sooner the better.

Best in the County
It always amazes me to see just how many, what I would call, mediocre courses always seem to rank above CPGC. Why? Seriously why?It is a fantastic layout with some truly stunning holes. Ask any golfer for the best layout in Northamptonshire and this course wins hands down.
And as for the greens … they are rapid!!!
I see Sherwood Forest at no1 for the East Mids and having played both courses regularly they sit alongside each other for me. Yet you won’t see CP within the top 100 East Mids courses!!! Ha ha!!! Crazy!!!
I love Sherwoods tree lined layout but with all the water at CP, it’s a very different, yet just as challenging knock but intertwining a housing estate with some beautiful properties makes it very easy on the eye.
This course is without a shadow of a doubt a top 10 in the East Mids. If you’ve played it recently … you’d know this. The East Mids list needs adjusting to recognise this asap. ????????????????????

Greens
Not impressed with the sand that covered all the greens, made putting very inconsistent, not you expect from a quality course. It was like putting on a beachReviewer Rating

Re-vamped course layout
Well done guys! The efforts you have put in to the course development and maintenance are really showing. The course is in great condition, the greens are immaculate and the changes you have made since losing the 2nd/3rd holes work really well. I especially like the new 17th and the longer 18th.Reviewer Rating

20/12/21 Winter Warmer
Have just played the course as a society of 29 in the middle of winter and have never played greens like that on any course in winter. They were lightning quick. Many a course in July would kill for those greens. Just stunning and the topic of conversation in the bar afterwards! The greens staff had ironed them for our comp. How fantastic is that?
There is so much work in progress that means there’s a bit of a walk to the current brand new 1st (soon to be the 2nd) but it gives you a chance to survey the even newer (not yet open) first that’s due to open imminently in early 2022. That looks like it’s going to be a superb opening hole.
The tees were moved forward quite a distance for winter but it was still an absolute joy out there helped by being a pleasant winter day with not a breath of wind. It was a little soft underfoot in places, as you’d expect, but that was no issue as it is December.
It didn’t go unnoticed by the players also that every single bunker had been freshly raked so god knows what time the greenskeepers must have been in at.
Overall, just a joy to play. I now, at the insistence of a salivating society, have to put together another meet to get us back in the summer. I don’t know if I can’t wait for it or whether I should be in fear if the greens are like that in winter then god only knows what they will be like in summer!!!
Superb CPGC and also great VFM. ????
