What the club says: Altrincham Golf Course and Driving Range owned run by Trafford Community Leisure Trust is an 18 hole, par 71 that plays 6385 yards from the competition tee's. Although technically parkland the open and firm nature of the course means that, particularly in the summer months it plays very much like a links with tight, firm lies and fast greens it provides a challenging test for any standard of golfer.
First established in 1893 it's a mature course filled with natural ponds and Timperly brook meandering throughout. Every hole offers the golfer something different, from a short par 3 playing over water to long par 5's that will test the big hitters.

Not as good as it used to be
First time I have played there for a few years and I was very disappointed , not being looked after like it used to be . Tree branches left across paths , tee positions in daft places , too many dog walkers all over the course , twigs etc on some greensReviewer Rating

Excellent Muni
Altrincham is a lovely layout which puts many local private clubs to shame. The fairways are generous and there is never the unpleasant feeling of being hemmed in by tight avenues of trees. Small groups of magnificent oaks and beeches pepper the course rather than serried ranks of silver birch. The land is pleasantly undulating with Timperley Brook meandering throughout providing added interest to many holes. The bunkering is strategically placed and acceptable from a playing point of view.
The greens are good with only a couple showing signs of damage from adjacent trees.
Considering the amount of play Altrincham gets as a muni it is a fabulous courses and excellent value.

Society Trip
Bang Average course, which is made more average by all of the GUR, no green keepers out working and bunkers containing no sand or even rakes! Needs money to be spent!Reviewer Rating

Great value decent test
For a muni, the course is always in good condition, and features some testing and interesting holes. Very few of the boring straight down and back style holes which are prevalent in the Manchester area. Best value course in the area, especially given how easy it can be to book on for a Saturday.Reviewer Rating
